potters place application

potters place provides a retail outlet for members of Canberra Potters’ Society to sell high-quality ceramics and pottery. All potters place members are expected to share equally in its running and staffing so all members take their turn rostered on duty – as normal opening days are Thursday to Sunday, when we have sixteen shop members that means just one day every four weeks. And the benefit of staffing the shop is lower sales commission than you’ll find in other retail outlets.

As well as pottery, the shop also sells clay, tools, magazines, etc. and takes payment for such things as Society membership, workshop fees, firing fees, etc. The shop and its members are very important to the society – the shop is often the first point of contact for potential students and new members, and without shop members to mind exhibitions and handle gallery sales, we couldn’t run the exhibition program.

Members of the shop must remain financial members of CPS whilst they have work for sale in the shop.

You don’t have to be a long-term potter to apply to join the shop. Shop members are a friendly bunch and keen to mentor newer potters.

PLEASE NOTE: There are no current vacancies in the shop. We’ll notify here as and when space becomes available.

Selection criteria:

  • Originality of work
  • Quality/craftsmanship of the work
  • Suitability for the potters place market base
  • Availability of space in potters place
  • Willingness and ability to full participate in the running of potters place

Upon acceptance to potters place there is a $25 joining fee payable before your work can be displayed in the shop.
