Life is just a bowl of cherries
is a saying meaning life is very pleasant. It’s sometimes used
ironically with the opposite meaning but in this celebration of the
ceramic bowl we’re concentrating on that first pleasant meaning.
The bowl form can encompass a wide variety of making styles such as
throwing on the potter’s wheel, coiling, slabbing and slip casting.
Bowls can be functional, decorative and sculptural. Bowls can be
humble and they can be extravagant.
