Canberra Potters’ Student/Teacher exhibition is a time to celebrate
the creativity of the many students who attend our pottery classes
and, of course, the teachers who share their skills and love of clay.
The Society runs classes (open to members and non-members) for both
adults and children in sculpture, hand-building and wheelwork.
Term-time classes are run during the day and evening, weekdays and
weekends, while school holidays are given over to the popular
children’s holiday programs. Students range from people with no
experience to those ready to develop a portfolio of work for art
school and all are encouraged to enter work in the Student/Teacher
exhibition.
A strong, experienced team of teachers is invaluable in guiding
students in their own exploration of clay and creativity. Chris
Harford, Jane Crick, Alex de Vos, Cathy Franzi, Maryke Henderson,
Garry Palecek and Kaye Pemberton are all excellent potters in their
own right who exhibit locally and further afield.
Judging of the student exhibits this year is by local potter
Jacqueline Lewis. A number of awards are given to acknowledge
excellence by both adults and children.
