CPS OPEN DAY 15th June 2008

What a wonderful Open Day we had. The list of members who contributed to the success of the day is too long to mention everyone by name but whether it was through making bowls or yummy home made soup or cakes; serving food or tea and coffee; demonstrating in the workshop; competing in the Iron Potter events; firing kilns for the raku demonstrations or the zillion other things that made the day a huge success, we offer a great big thank you to you all..

Despite a colder day and a harsher wind I am reliably informed that we sold more bowls of home-made soup than ever before and there was a steady stream of kids and grown-ups decorating their own raku-fired pieces before handing them over to Suzanne Oakmann and Peter Mobey for expert firing in their beautiful Stefan Jacob designed kilns.

My thanks also to all the good sports who participated in the Iron Potter event – ably organised once again by Alex de Vos – including Jane Crick and Chris Keane who submitted themselves to the fiercest of competitions from all the challengers. The sound of laughter erupting from the workshop is one of my favourite winter memories. Congratulations also to to everyone who entered work in the the Student/Teacher Exhibition and thanks to Pam Barker, our inaugural President, for her time and efforts in judging the entries and awarding prizes.

The Iron Potter event was once again a huge hit.  Many thanks to Jane Crick and Chris Keane for submitting themselves to the fiercest of competitions from all challengers.
