CPS OPEN
DAY 14th June 2009
Although I didn’t see everything that was
going on at the Open Day on June 14 – being totally involved with the
raku firing for just about the whole day – I did see enough to be able
to say with some certainty that the event was a great success. And how
lucky were we with the weather! And no blocked toilets either!
Congratulations to all involved and a big
‘thank you’ to Caroline Reid for organising and coordinating it. The
soup was great! Thank you Cathy and helpers. Thanks too to Max Campbell
of Clayworks and David Walker of Walker Ceramics, who came from
Melbourne for the day, and Ian Theyer of Potters’ Needs, who came from
the icy wastes of Oberon, and fixed our little kiln while he was here.
Everyone enjoyed the Iron Potter as always. Thanks to Alex de Vos for
that.
I know the raku firing was a success because
Jen Collier, Peter Mobey and I kept our three Stefan Jakob Ikea kilns
going from just after 10 am until 4.00 pm. Thanks to Jen, who made all
the pots for firing. From a personal point of view, it was especially
good for me, as I had not fired my kiln since I made it over a year ago.
